The EPA and DHA omega-3 found in fish oil is considerably more bioavailable for absorption in the body than from flaxseed oil or borage oil. In fact, vegetable oils such as flax and borage do not contain any naturally occurring EPA or DHA at all. Instead, they contain the fatty acid alpha-linolenic, which converts to EPA and DHA when ingested but at a very poor rate of about only 4-6%.
